Dufry, a global retailer operating more than 2,300 shops at airports, cruise liners, seaports, and other tourist locations worldwide, has exceeded sales forecasts due to a strong rebound in global travel following the easing of pandemic-related restrictions.
In the first quarter, sales in the Asia-Pacific region surged by 276.9% driven by the relaxation of restrictions in China.
Xavier Rossinyol, CEO of Dufry, stated that the Asia-Pacific region remains a priority for growth, and the company plans to increase its efforts in this region over the next five years.
Dufry reported a 113.4% increase in first-quarter turnover to 2.35 billion Swiss francs ($2.64 billion), surpassing consensus estimates by 10%.
Despite the positive outlook, Dufry maintains a cautious approach in anticipation of potential economic changes.
